Your mind has hijacked “you.” The only way this can happen is because “you” and your mind are not the same thing. The mind is only a tool for us to use, but with most people the mind has taken over and is using us.
Proper meditation is necessary to reclaim your mind. Learning to monitor your thoughts, recognizing your thoughts, becoming aware and sensitive to your thoughts is key because once you observe your thoughts, you are separate from your thoughts, and they no longer rule your life.
It’s more of a process of unbecoming rather than becoming. We have created our ego thinking that our mind is who we are. As we meditate many of our destructive habits will fall off like leaves off a tree because we are connecting with our entire being and using our mind only as a tool for serving that being.
The “hole” or “void” that everyone feels deep down, late at night, is a product of our mind. Our mind convinces us that more money, more things, more friends will fill this void but after we acquire these things the void is still there.
