“We cannot solve our problems with
the same thinking we used
when we created them.”
~ Albert Einstein
True or False (for you): “I don’t have any challenges or problems in my life.” I can say for myself – FALSE. I am a firm believer that if I have no challenges or problems, I am really not doing anything new or stretching my abilities. Without challenges or problems there is NO growth. Only by overcoming challenges and problems can I grow and gain wisdom.
There is a funny story told back home where God once visited Earth and asked around – How is life? One said Great, one said Miserable, one said Blissful. Then God started to laugh seeing how men were so confused.
Each one of us perceives good or bad, beauty or ugly, happiness or despair based on our own state of mind and perception. From time to time we all have experienced situations in our lives which we perceived as Bad, but after some thinking and contemplation we realized it was a blessing in disguise. What changed? The situation didn’t change, our thinking changed. The way we perceived the situation changed; we were able to see beyond its appearance and understand everything in its wholesome entirety. What is the catalyst which helps us bring in this clarity? It is TIME.
One day Buddha was traveling with his disciples on foot. They just crossed a river and Buddha sat under a tree to rest and asked one his disciple to get some water from the river. A bullock cart was crossing the river and the water was very muddy, so the disciple went back to Buddha and told him the water is not clear. Buddha asked him to sit down. After some time he requested the disciple to check on the water. The disciple returned with clear water. Buddha turned to his disciple and posed the question: What made the water clear? TIME. All it needed was time for the dirt to settle down – such a natural thing.
That is what we are missing in our modern lives, TIME. Time for reflection and contemplation.
All the ancient teachers agreed on one thing: One who has control over his mind rules his world – all others are deluded slaves of their untamed mind. All our answers reside within us. All we need is a quiet mind to access them. Come retreat and find your answers with your own beautiful mind.
The 2015 Spring Retreat will provide this TIME
and congenial space for your mind to slow down
and perhaps even become STILL.
Chris and I are very grateful for letting us serve you all.
