Dear Spiritual Beings,
It has been quite some time since I connected with you all. The Summer I think is one of the reasons. The weather is so great; it’s wonderful to be outside, bask in the sun, breathe the fresh air, listen to all kinds of bird calls, and at times watch the summer rain – so special. It is FULL of life.
The other main reason is because my spiritual Teacher was touring North America and he spent a good amount of time here in New Jersey this summer. I always used to wonder which of my past deeds are allowing me to benefit from Him now. I go back to one of the sayings of the saint, Sankara. He said there are 3 boons (blessings) that a human being should seek. 1. To be born in the human form. 2. To be born during the era of a great saint. 3. To physically come in contact with the saint and start a spiritual life.
In the East Hemisphere there have been a few men like Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Buddha, Confucius, and Loa Tzu who raised their consciousness to such an extent that they perceived their unlimited inner being and became super-conscious.
As per Eastern philosophy, there are 4 distinct ways to attain the ultimate goal of Divinization or super-consciousness. This is a far-fetched idea for the average modern man or woman, but still it doesn’t hurt to check it out, right? Out of the 4 paths – Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Raja Yoga and Jnana Yoga – Raja yoga (yoga of the Mind) is considered to be the most direct way to attain the Goal.
Interestingly, when Swami Vivekananda visited North America to attend “The World Parliament of Religion” held in Chicago in 1893, he also visited other parts of the United States and gave lectures. He also stayed for an extended period of time on Wellesley Island – one of the 1,000 Islands on the Saint Lawrence River between Canada and US. Chris and I had a wonderful opportunity to visit the actual place he stayed. We even sat in meditation on the same huge rock formation where he once meditated. As students of Yoga we were thrilled with that experience.
If anyone has a true desire to learn about Spirituality and Raja Yoga, a great way is to listen to these Vivekananda episodes on TheMysicShow.net. I feel so elated when I listen to these lectures – so focused and concentrated. It gives us an idea of how much more there is to life beyond our mundane routines.
I hope you ALL will enjoy it – please write your comments/questions under the posts. Soar high as you dive deep within …..
