Heard the alarm go off…
Still it is dark! Why is the alarm on? Chris reminded me, we lost an hour dear! Spring Forward! OOOO! End of the World! How much we have complicated our lives!
Suddenly I realized where I was….
In Shambala Mountain Center! O That’s right.
The excitement caught my Heart. I quickly got out of bed, after refreshing stepped out of the room quietly and started walking towards the meditation hall.
The early mornings are always very special – the sky is still grey, the air is fresh and crisp. Eeverything is waiting to unfold as Dawn arrives. So magical! I look forward to experience as much as possible in my daily life.
The Meditation hall was empty, this is a very low season there are very few people on retreat. It was easy to sink into the already existing stillness …
If one is a bit sensitive you can actually catch the state of your being in this environment. My mind was quiet, detached. My faculties were all functioning as usual, but the mind wasn’t bothered by the information that was pouring in. A still pond. The inner observer was witnessing everything just as it was. No comparison, so adjectives as if you are in a deep sleep state but still awake. It was a wonderful experience….
As the day unfolded it seemed like a slow movie….
We were getting ready to head out for breakfast. What is that BIG Black thing! Ha! A Moose. What a delight. We stopped and took pictures. He was feasting. So were we, the warm cup of coffee was very much needed to warm me a bit.
Hmm Flurries, slowly descending from the sky! it made the place more mystical in a sense. We had planned to vacate the room and go on a hike behind the Stupa. It was a bit cold, windy and with the snow, we knew we won’t be able to hike. But sure we wanted to go back to the Stupa.
A silent meditative walk…..
The day light gave a different perspective of the whole place. We noticed so many flags in all different colors, a very traditional symbol of Tibet. Did we walk on the wooden bridge last night? O MY! Even the worldly existing things are perceived differently depending on our physical capacity, leave alone the unseen. The incense smell raised the sanctity of the space.
The Sanskrit word dharmakaya means “Body Of Realty Or Truth” the essence of awakened being, absolute Buddha Nature. It is said those who gaze at the The Great Stupa pf Dharmakaya see the body of the Buddha. When their thoughts are stopped by its power and beauty, they experience the mind of the Buddha. That moment of direct insight, no matter how brief, is the gateway to enlightenment. (Ref-Consecration Edition Aug 2001)
We walked into the door.
There was Buddha seated in a Lotus pose with a beautiful smile on his lips. 20′ feet tall!
I was lost. Lost for Good in HIS presence.
Buddhist tradition has a quite a bit of rituals of chanting and praying. There were others who were doing all those, somehow nothing affected the stillness in me.
We sat in Meditation. How can it be expressed, no words can really do the job. Everything was peaceful and in harmony. There is nothing that was perfect or imperfect. It is what it is ! I wanted it to last forever. Why not, isn’t the GOAL of our existence to reach that Bliss of oneness with everything. To be with the Absolute Reality. When the mind is still even time becomes still.
Sooner are later, the relative reality does takes over. We have to leave, we have a 3 Hr drive home and tomorrow is Monday on and on and on life goes.
This was a wonderful experience, a reassurance for oneself, the Higher state one can get into and the very possibility of it. I don’t have to wait for LIFE to STOP, I can willfully CHOOSE to PAUSE and get THAT state of stillness anytime.
On the way, we stopped by the reception office to say bye to Marsha, she wasn’t there but met another young woman. I was so surprised to hear, she recently got out of a bad relationship, needed to heal and she choose Shambala to rest and restore her spirit. How wonderful. She was so beautiful and very wise for her age! I prayed more and more youngsters become wise like her.
One last look at the place and we started driving towards civilization as we call it. From Calm to Chaos. In my heart I know a day we will arrive where we will live in a Sanctuary like this. Yes when PAUSE YOUR LIFE has its Retreat center it will be an Oasis for every thirsty soul.
Deep down from my Heart I saluted to All the Great Masters and Sages who have left behind the trail for us to realize ….
I am the Infinite Reality
